Chef Biography
Michel Chiche was born in France in 1959 and went to school at Hotellerie College in Nice, France, graduating with his B.T.C and C.A.P. in pastry in 1976. He apprenticed at CAPA Pâtisserie in Nice from 1976 to 1980.
In 1981, he worked for Great Chef Michel Richard for his Beverly Hills pastry stores, and received personal training from Chef Richard. From 1983 through 1991, he served as pastry chef on California’s west coast at several facilities including the Beverly Hills Hotel.
In 1992 he was appointed as executive pastry chef for Rosewood’s La Samanna Hotel on St. Martin in the French West Indies. In 1997, Great Chefs showed up to tape Chef Michel for their Great Chefs of the Caribbean television series to be aired on the Discovery Channel.
A few years later, he left to become the executive pastry chef at La Palm d’Or at the Biltmore Hotel, then in 2002, moved to the same position at Lowes Hotels, and in 2006, moved over to Marriott’s Doral Golf Resort.
In 2009, Marriott moved him to their Harbor Beach property in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he remains today in 2016. Rumor has it that he also owns a small ice cream shop called Scoop, in south Florida.
